Ideally located in the upper lands of Western Kenya, Transmara Sugar Company Limited lies almost on the Equator and benefits from high and reliable rainfall throughout the year. The region lies at an altitude ranging between 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level and has among the most fertile soils in Kenya. Transmara Sugar’s Kenyan milling operation sources 100% of the sugarcane it crushes from 18,250 out-growers located within a 30km radius of the factory. The out-growers plant cane on over 16,150 hectares of rich agricultural land every year. Over the years, the company has worked with local planters to help them improve their fertilization and crop yields. They also help them harvest and transport their crop from field to factory. Transmara continues to invest in the region’s infrastructure and maintains its roads. Through its CSR program, Transmara helps improve local residents’ access to water, healthcare, and education
